Both brands were founded by strong females who have created a product to be worn and carried by like minded customers. The Strathberry x WNU pop has created the space for a wonderful synergy; through the conversations between founders, brands and customers.
The Strathberry X WNU pop up gives customers the opportunity to shop the practical and chic wardrobe essential in which to live a life in.
We are delighted to share a conversation between two founders.
A conversation between two founders
- What inspired you to start WNU?
Over the years working for both Vogue and Tatler I seemed to always be more focused on the longevity of style over fashion. After many instances of calling in men's shirts for women's shoots, the idea of WNU was inevitably born, although it wasn't actually until 2 years later when I thought let's see if we can make this work and create a cool, elegant, effortlessly chic shirting brand. A piece for everyone and the ultimate ‘uniform’.
- What makes you different to other clothing brands?
At WNU we create classic pieces to last a lifetime, not just a season! WNU is not about fleeting trends, it’s about creating staples for women that combine excellent quality with a nonchalantly chic style that are designed to be a constant in women’s wardrobe rotations. We achieved our B Corp certification in 2022 too, which holds us to the highest standards of sustainable garment products and ethical workplaces, so you know that when you buy something from you can trust that it has been made well.
We offer a selection of brushed, linen, poplin, and weave shirts and recently expanded our summer collection of shorts to include palazzo pants too. As the company and our collections grow, our ethos always remains the same: quality clothing without any compromise on style.
- How did the pop-up come about?
When we started contemplating where would be an idyllic place to pop up, we have always looked close to home for inspiration whether that be for product development or photo shoot mood boards. As a brand inspired by British heritage, Edinburgh came to the forefront of my mind when thinking of the perfect location!
- What do you feel about the shared values of WNU and Strathberry?
When I knew we wanted to pop up in Edinburgh, we had to work with a brand that shared our values of British Heritage and Modern Simplicity, which is why we are thrilled to be working with the brilliant Strathberry. With the perfect balance of exceptional craftsmanship and elegant designs, they make the perfect host.
- What pieces from the WNU collection and Strathberry would you style together and why?
My favourite has to be the Multrees Omni in Caramel, which I would pair with our Boyfriend Tencel Navy Blue. Both in chic colourways and luxurious materials, by styling these two together they make the perfect uniform for an everyday, elevated look (and then simply thrown on a chunky gold necklace to take this out to drinks after work). We also adore the Multrees Hobo in black for everyday styling or the Lana Osette for on-the-go.
- What are your top tips for a visit to Edinburgh for anyone coming to visit the pop-up?
Alongside, our obsession with One Day a brisk hike up to Arthur’s seat wrapped up in a brushed shirt seems quite tempting and is one to tick off the bucket list. Closely followed by cocktails and supper at the Kimpton Hotel.
- What can visitors expect from the pop-up?
The pop-up will be open from Thursday 4th to Sunday 7th April and we have lots of exciting events planned. We are holding two events where customers can meet and shop with the founders; these events include an evening of champagne on Friday 5th April between 5-7 pm and a Founder’s brunch, hosted by me and Leeanne, on Saturday 6th April between 10 am-1 pm.
